Privacy policy

Last updated: August 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Mara’s Nest collects, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can do about it. It applies to our website, to the orders you place with us and to any contact you have with our customer support team.

By using our website or placing an order, you agree to what is described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

1. What We Collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Your name
  • Your shipping address and, if it differs, your billing address
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number, if you provide one
  • Anything you write to us in an email or a contact form
  • Your marketing preferences, if you sign up for emails

Information we collect automatically when you visit the website:

  • Your IP address and approximate location
  • Your device type, operating system and browser
  • The pages you view, how long you stay and what you click
  • The website or advertisement that brought you here
  • Information collected through cookies and similar technologies

Information created when you order:

  • Your order history and order status
  • Your tracking and delivery information
  • Records of returns, refunds and support requests

We do not see or store your full payment card details. Card payments are handled directly by our payment providers, who are certified to handle card data securely. We receive only a confirmation that the payment succeeded and a limited reference such as the last four digits and the card type.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To process your order, take payment and send it to you
  • To keep you updated with order confirmations, shipping notifications and tracking
  • To answer your questions and handle returns, refunds and complaints
  • To manage warranty and product safety matters where these apply
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorized transactions
  • To understand how our website is used so we can improve it
  • To measure how well our advertising works
  • To send marketing emails, but only if you have signed up for them
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

We do not use your personal information to make automated decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

3. Our Basis for Using It

We handle personal information in line with Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation. Depending on what we are doing, we rely on one or more of the following: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time; the need to carry out the agreement we have with you, such as fulfilling your order; compliance with a legal obligation; or a legitimate business interest such as preventing fraud, securing our website and improving our products.

If you live somewhere that gives you additional privacy rights, such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, those rights apply to you as well and we will honour them.

4. Who We Share It With

We share personal information only where it is needed to run the business and get your order to you. That means:

  • Our e-commerce platform, which hosts this website and processes orders on our behalf
  • Payment providers, who process your payment
  • Shipping carriers and logistics partners, who deliver your order
  • Our suppliers and fulfilment partners, who pack and ship the products you ordered
  • Analytics providers, who help us understand how the website is used
  • Advertising and email platforms, where you have accepted the relevant cookies or signed up
  • Professional advisers such as accountants, where necessary
  • Government or law enforcement authorities, where the law requires it

Everyone in that list may only use your information for the purpose we engaged them for.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We never have and we do not intend to.

5. Information Sent Outside Canada

Some of our service providers, suppliers and fulfilment partners are located outside Canada, including in the United States, the European Union and Asia. To ship your order, we pass on the details needed to deliver it, such as your name, address, phone number and email address.

That means your information may be stored or processed in a country whose privacy laws differ from Canadian law, and it may in some circumstances be accessible to the authorities of that country. Where we transfer information abroad, we use contractual and technical safeguards intended to keep it protected to a comparable standard.

6. How Long We Keep It

We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as long as the law requires. Order records, invoices and transaction data are generally kept for up to seven years, because tax and accounting rules require it. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a minimal record so we do not email you again by mistake. Support correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for handling any follow-up, and then deleted.

7. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember what is in your cart, measure how the site performs, understand how visitors use it, and to support our advertising and marketing.

You can accept, refuse or change your cookie preferences at any time through our cookie banner, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Refusing non-essential cookies will not stop you from shopping with us, but parts of the site may work less well.

Our Cookie Policy explains each category in more detail.

8. How We Protect It

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure and alteration. Traffic between your browser and our website is encrypted using SSL. Access to personal information is limited to those who need it to do their work, and our payment and platform providers maintain their own recognized security standards.

No method of transmitting or storing data can be guaranteed to be completely secure. We take every reasonable precaution, and if a breach ever occurs that poses a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate regulator as required by law.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply to you, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it
  • Have information that is wrong or incomplete corrected
  • Ask us to delete your personal information, where we are not required to keep it
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, including for marketing
  • Object to or ask us to limit certain uses of your information
  • Ask us to send your information to another organization in a portable format
  • Complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial equivalent

To use any of these rights, email us at the address at the bottom of this page. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request, and we will explain if there is a legal reason we cannot do what you asked.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send. Order and delivery updates are not marketing and will continue to be sent while an order is in progress.

10. Children

Our products are bought by adults for children, but the website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Other Websites

Our website may link to websites we do not control, such as payment providers, carrier tracking pages or social media. This policy does not cover those websites, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information. Please read their privacy policies before sharing anything with them.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our business, our tools or the law changes. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will make that clear on the website.

13. Contact Us

If you have a question about this policy, about the information we hold, or about how we handle it, email us and we will help.
